Susceptibility of PE-LD/PEoxo recyclates to degradation under heating and humid conditions
Blends of post-consumer low-d. polyethylene (PE) film and recycled oxobiodegradable PE were extruded to a film and tested for mech. strength, optionally after ageing at 50 degrees C or 80 degrees C and humidity 99% for 500 or 1000 h, to study the effect of recycled oxobiodegradable PE on the processability and thermal stability of the blends. The surface morphology the samples was detd. by optical microscopy. In the presence of oxobiodegradable PE, the oxidn. induction time of the blends significantly decreased. The agein of the blends resulted in a decrease in tensile strength of the films.
