Fabrication and characterization of DBM/p-Si heterojunction solar cell
Hybrid organic/inorganic solar cell was fabricated by depositing a thin film of p-N,N dimethylamino-benzylidenemalononitrile (DBM) onto p-Si substrate. DBM is a donor acceptor disubstituted benzenes dye known as molecular rotors and highly polar molecular compounds. Its powder has a polycrystalline structure, while nano-crystallite rods are formed in the as-deposited film. The dark current density voltage (J-V) characteristics of Au/DBM/p-Si/Al heterojunction device measured at different temperatures ranging from 291 to 353 K have been investigated. The operating conduction mechanisms, the series and shunt resistances, the rectification ratio, the ideality factor, the effective barrier height, and the total trap concentration were determined. The capacitance voltage (C V) characteristics indicated that the junction is of abrupt nature. The built-in voltage and the carrier concentration distributed through the depletion region were estimated. Under illumination, the DBM/p-Si cell showed photovoltaic properties and the photovoltaic parameters were evaluated. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
