HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS OF TiO2/WATER NANOFLUID IN A COILED AGITATED VESSEL PROVIDED WITH DISK TURBINE AGITATOR
Enhancement in heat transfer performance using a nanofluid in an agitated vessel was examined. A coiled agitated vessel provided with disk turbine agitator and TiO2/water nanofluid of three different volume concentrations, 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3%, were used to carry out this study. Experiments were performed by varying the speed of the disk turbine at a constant cooling rate. The value of the Nusselt number was found to increase with increasing speed of the disk turbine and with increasing volume concentration of the TiO2/water nanofluid. A considerable increase of about 3 to 17.5% in heat transfer rate was observed. Empirical correlations for both water and TiO2/water nanofluid were developed to estimate the Nusselt number. The values were compared with the experimental Nusselt number and found to fit within +/- 5% for water and within +/- 8% for nanofluid.
