Selection of Informative Characteristics of Lube Oil for Evaluating its Performance
An approach based on the use of the postulates of nonequilibrium thermodynamics for describing oil aging process is proposed for determining the change in the quality of lube oil performance in internal combustion engine. It is shown that the basic characteristics of the oil aging process in the engine are the acid number and the solid phase content in the oil.
