Determination of the effectiveness of hydrocarbon extraction from oil-contaminated soils
A procedure based on the hypothesis of minimum entropy generation is presented for calculation of hydrocarbon mass-flux density using a low-boiling solvent to extract hydrocarbons from oil-contaminated soils. The effect of the ratio of extractant to oil-contaminated soil on mass-flux density and extractor efficiency is studied. Computed and experimental data are compared.
