Effect of temperature on excess molar volumes and viscosities for propylene carbonate plus N,N-dimethylformamide mixtures
Densities and viscosities have been determined as a function of mole fraction for propylene carbonate + N,N-dimethylformamide mixtures at 298.15, 308.15, 318.15, 328.15, and 338.15 K. From these measurements, the excess molar volume (V-m(E)) and deviation in viscosity (Delta eta) were calculated. These results were fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomials. The values of V-m(E) are found to be positive, whereas those of Delta eta are negative over the entire composition range at each temperature investigated. The values of V-m(E) decrease but those of Delta eta increase with increasing temperature. Results have been explained on the basis of molecular interactions in the mixtures.
