Biofiltration of sulfur compounds produced in the process for disposing animal waste
Biofilter materials consisting of compost soil (40%) and peat (40%) mixed up with coconut fiber or oak bark were used for removal of volatile S compds. from output gas of animal waste utilizing plants. The biofiltration was carried out at 25-33 degrees C, humidity 59-80% and pH 5.9-6.8 and resulted in removal of 51.8% (coconut fiber) or 96.8% (oak bark) of the S compds.
