By-products of the bioethanol manufacturing process from cereals
Loose and pelleted dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) dervied as by-products of EtOH prodn. from corn, barley-corn and wheat-corn mixts. were studied for chem. comp. gross energy, protein and fat contents, as well as for amino acids and mycotoxins. The highest crude protein content was obsd. in wheat-corn DDGS (35.34%) while the highest crude fat content (12.83%) in corn DDGS (P <= 0,01). All studied DDGS were rich in essential amino acids. Acid detergent-insoluble N was contained in loose and pelleted corn DDGS (16.44 and 11.65% of total N, resp.). The highest contents of crude fibre, neutral detergent fibre and crude ash were found in corn DDGS. The mycotoxins contents did not exceed the allowable limits.
