Biologically active oxide coatings, produced by the sol-gel method on steel implant
SiO2, TiO2 and SiO2/TiO2 coating were produced by hydrolysis of (BuO)(4)Ti, (i-Pro)(4)Ti, i-Bu(EtO)(2)Si, (EtO)(4)Si and (MeO)(4)Si precursors and deposited on steel surface by dip-coating. The coatings showed structural homogeneity, high adhesion to the substrate and stimulating effect on the cells. The TiO2 coating was distinguished by the highest proliferation activity.
