Selected properties of biocomposite films produced on the basis of chitosan and sodium alginate polyelectrolite complexes
Biocomposite films were produced from Na alginate and low-mol. chitosan in aq. soln. of glycerol and lactic acid by drying under controlled conditions and studied for H2O vapour permeability, tensile strength, elongation at break, puncture resistance and surface structure. Formation of Na alginate-chitosan complex was confirmed by ultrastructure changes and resulted in an increase in elasticity and tensile strength.
