Study on the possibility of using the vegetable paraffin oil as a potential substitute of mineral paraffin oil (paraffinum liquidum) in cosmetic formulations
Rapeseed and palm oils were hydrogenated at 250-350 degrees C and 10 MPa over a corn. Ni catalyst to produce paraffinic oils for cosmetic formulations (water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions). The emulsions were evaluated for appearance (microscopic observation), odour and stability during 24 h long storage at -3 degrees C and 30 degrees C and compared with emulsions prepd. from petroleum-derived paraffinic oils. No significant differences were obsd.
