Effect of sewage sludge liming on inactivation of Ascaris suum eggs
Eggs of intestinal parasites (Ascaris suum) were added to dehydrated municipal sewage sludge and treated with doses of CaO or Ca(OH)(2) (20% or 26%). The treatment resulted in increasing the pH values up to above 12 and achieving the effective degree of the sludge sanitization (near 100%). CaO was not more efficient than Ca(OH)(2).
