Comparison of an effectiveness of aqueous and alcoholic silver nanoparticle suspensions in decreasing the ammonia emissions from poultry litter
Ag nanoparticles were deposited on mineral sorbents (vermiculite, bentonite, halloysite) and added to poultry droppings mixed with sawdust-straw litter, placed in tightly closed glass bottles and studied for NH3 emission by measuring the NH3 concn. in air in upper litter layer and above its surface. Addn., temp. and humidity of the litter and in the air were measured. A decrease in NH3 concn. both in the litter and above its surface was noted in all the cases, the highest for vermiculite-based prepns.
