Herbs and propolis as functional additives for fodder industry
Inflorescence of Rumex cissus and herbs of Pontentilla anserina and Polygonum aviculare were extd. with H2O at 80-100 degrees C for 10 min to produce aq. exts. for studying retardation of Escherichia coli growth under std. conditions. Similarly, corn. alc. ext. of propolis and its mixt. with the plant exts. were used for the same purpose. The ext. of propolis showed a good bacteriocidal activity while the herbal exts. were inactive against bacteria. The addn. of herbal exts. to the propolis one resulted in a decrease in its bacteriocidal activity.
