The Electronic-Transition Dipole-Moment of the B0(U)(+)-)X0(G)(+) Transition in Iodine
The electronic transition dipole moment of the B0(u)(+)-->X0(g)(+) transition in molecular iodine has been determined in the range 2.633 less than or equal to R(centroid)less than or equal to 6.035 Angstrom. We have measured a decreased of <(mu)over bar>(e)(2) of about 4 orders of magnitude, perhaps the largest variation of <(mu)over bar>(e)(2) yet observed in a molecule.
