Graphite-like C3N4 modified Ag3PO4 nanoparticles with highly enhanced photocatalytic activities under visible light irradiation
Graphite-like C-3 N-4 (g-C3N4) modified Ag3PO4 nanoparticles with highly enhanced photocatalytic activities under visible light irradiation (lambda >= 400 nm) compared to the bare Ag3PO4 nanoparticles were prepared by a facile chemisorption method. The resulting C3N4/Ag3PO4 composite photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). Enhanced charge separation efficiency was confirmed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The enhanced photocatalytic activities were mainly ascribed to the synergistic effect between C-3 N-4 and Ag3PO4 which led to an improved separation efficiency of electron-hole pairs. The highefficient hybrid photocatalysts are expected to show considerable potential applications in wastewater treatment and water splitting. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
