Novel Detection Technique for Particulate Matter in Air Using Metal Mesh Device Sensors
A novel technique for detection of particulate matter in air using metal mesh devices is proposed. A metal mesh device with square apertures was used as membrane filter and as band-pass filter. Frequency shifts in transmittance spectra of the metal mesh device collected with particulate matter had a linear relationship to the particulate matter concentrations with a high coefficient of determination. When metal mesh devices with different opening lengths were stacked, particulate matter was fractionalized by size.
