Hydrodynamics of an Airlift Bioreactor Treating Petroleum-based Liquids: Experiment and CFDM
Bubble diameter as well as total and local gas holdups in an airlift bioreactor with water, diesel, and different water-in-diesel microemulsions was studied. Both 2D and 3D Eulerian models together with experimental bubble diameters were used to simulate the bioreactor. The accuracy of results in the 2D model depends on the bubble diameter. The 3D model was in better agreement with the experiments.
