Optimization of chemical processes with dependent uncertain parameters
Generally, chemical processes (CP) are designed with the use of inaccurate mathematical models. Therefore, it is important to create a chemical process that guarantees satisfaction of all design specifications either exactly or with some probability. The paper considers the problem of solving one-stage optimization problem with chance constraints. The main issue in solving one-stage optimization problems is calculating multiple integrals (calculating the expected value of the objective function and probabilities of constraints satisfaction). Here we consider a new approach to solving a one-stage optimization problem with chance constraints in the case when uncertain parameters are dependent, normally distributed random, variables. This approach is based on transformation of chance constraints into deterministic ones. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
