Magnetic field induced self assembly and optical memory of pi-ring containing fluorophores
We report self assembly guided magnetic memory for pi-ring containing fluorophores and alteration in their fluorescence emission. Tryptophan and pyrene show 10-22% enhancement in fluorescence emission counts after static magnetic field (70-90 mTesla) exposure at 4 degrees C. The incremental change depends on polarization of excitation and emission light beam and also on the magnetic field direction. Sensitivity of the hydrodynamic profile to static magnetic field (SMF) implies association of spin re-alignment with self assembly. This association is further validated by the fall of the SMF induced quantum yield enhancement with increase in temperature. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
