Raman spectroscopic investigation of carbon-based materials and their composites. Comparison between carbon nanotubes and carbon black
Raman spectroscopy experiments on multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNTs), carbon black (CB) and on a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) filled either with MWCNTs or CB and also with a mixture of both particles (MWCNTs + CB) are reported. Emphasis is given on the dispersive effects of the Raman D band with laser energy that are shown for the first time to differ in each type of composites revealing a different polymer-filler interface. In addition, an upshift of the G band is observed when CB particles are incorporated into the polymer matrix. (C) 2013 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
