Static Inter-Phase Power Controller (SIPC) modeling for load flow and short circuit studies
In this paper, the topology for Inter-Phase Power Controller (IPC), called the Static Inter-Phase Power Controller (SIPC), is discussed. In this topology, the Phase Shifting Transformers (PSTs) of IPC have been replaced by Voltage Source Converters (VSCs). SIPC is modeled and studied under different operating conditions. It is shown that SIPC not only has all capabilities of conventional IPC; such as power flow control, fault current limitation and voltage isolation but also resets the control error to zero. In addition, SIPC increases the variations range of control variables of IPC, namely the phase angles (phi 1, phi 2) and as a result, the range of variations of active and reactive powers.
