To evaluate the claim that fuelcells are the "chip of the future," we'll first look for analogies between microelectronics chips and fuelcells, then we'll compare fuelcells with today's storage batteries and internal combustion engines, and finally take a long view of fuelcell positioning in the past and future of energy systems.
