Densities, speeds of sound and viscosities of binary mixtures of tetrahydrofuran with 1-hexanol, 1-octanol and 1-decanol at T = ( 298.15 to 313.15) K
Density rho, and speed of sound u, have been measured for the binary mixtures of tetrahydrofuran (C4H8O) with 1-hexanol, (C6H14O), 1-octanol, (C8H18O) and 1-decanol, (C10H22O) over the entire composition range at T = (298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15) K and at atmospheric pressure while viscosity, g was measured at T = (298.15, 303.15, 308.15) K and at atmospheric pressure. The experimental density and speed of sound values were used to calculate the excess molar volumes VmE, deviations in speed of sound u(D) and excess molar isentropic compressibility K-S,m(E), while the viscosity data were used to compute excess Gibbs energy of activation of viscous flow, Delta G(*E) E at 298.15, 303.15 and 308.15 K. The values of VmE, u(D) and K-S,m(E) were fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation and the viscosity data have been correlated by using the equations of Grunberg-Nissan, Tamura-Kurata, Hind et al., Heric-Brewer (three parameter) and McAllister (four body interactions) and have been used to discuss the presence of significant interactions between cyclic ether and alcohols.
