Synthesis of Poly(2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetyloxymethyl-styrene-co-acrylamide) and Its 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid Release Behavior
2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetyloxymethylstyrene (DOMS) was synthesized by the reaction of sodium salt of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and p-chloromethylstyrene in chlorobenzene at 90 ℃. DOMS was radically copolymerized with acrylamide (AM) in N,N-dimethylformamide at 70 ℃ to prepare hydrophilic poly(DOMS-co-AM). From the hydrolysis of the copolymer, it was shown that the release of 2,4-D increased with increasing pH and temperature of the medium.
