The homologue distribution of alkylphenol ethoxylates can be narrowed by using the non-standard catalyst proposed for alcohol ethoxylation. The reaction is carried out at 180-185-degrees-C in the presence of 0.3% catalyst in relation to the alkylphenol. The formation of increased amounts of dioxane and polyglycols is not observed.
