Solubility of Anthracene in Binary (2-Alkoxyethanol Plus 2-Alkoxyethanol) Solvent Mixtures
Experimental solubilities are reported for anthracene dissolved in binary (2-methoxyethanol + 2-ethoxyethanol), (2-methoxyethanol + 2-propoxyethanol), (2-butoxyethanol + 2-methoxyethanol), (2-propoxyethanol + 2-ethoxyethanol), (2-butoxyethanol + 2-ethoxyethanol), and (2-butoxyethanol + 2-propoxyethanol) solvent mixtures at T = 298.15 K. Results of these measurements are used to test two mathematical representations based upon the combined Nearly Ideal Binary Solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister equation and Modified Wilson model. For the six systems studied, both equations were found to provide an accurate mathematical representation of the experimental results, with an overall average absolute deviation between measured and calculated values of the order of 0.3 per cent or less.
