A surface-oriented fluid and thermal micro-model of a strip casting process
A 2-D coupled heat and fluid flow numerical model to study the initial contact between a melt and a water-cooled substrate (belt) is presented. The model results are compared to published data. The effect of applying a thin gas-forming Darting agent to the substrate is examined in terms of the temperature distribution within the belt.
