Practical application of modeling in the industrial sheet production
The microstructure and material properties and their evolution during hot and cold rolling and subsequent annealing processes are quantitatively described for non-heat-treatable Al-Mg-Mn alloys. Their integration into simulation models used for the correlation of thermo-mechanical process parameters with metallurgical effects is illustrated and examples are given for their application used for the prediction of microstructures (evolution of deformation and recrystallization structures and textures) and resulting properties (strength, formability, anisotropy). it is discussed how simulation models can be applied in practice for material optimization and new process control strategies.
