Inhomogeneous cavity distribution of superplastically deformed AL 7475 alloy
In this work, uniaxial superplastical deformation of Al7475 alloys was performed along the rolling and transverse directions. Samples in rolling direction that were deformed showed inhomogeneous cavity distribution along the thickness direction. Samples deformed along the transverse direction showed inhomogeneous cavity distribution not only just along thickness direction but also along stress direction, which resulted in the relatively low elongation. Inhomogeneous cavity distribution along sheet thickness is related to particle distribution variation and microtexture gradient along the thickness. The particle distribution and grain boundary character distribution (GBCD) of the as-received materials played an important role on the inhomogeneous cavitation along stress direction. The inhomogeneous cavitation distribution is closely related to the cavity stringer formation. The cavity distribution can be improved by a homogenization treatment.
