Microstructural characterisation of a rapidly solidified Mm(NiCoMnAl)(5) hydride-forming alloy
The influence of cooling rate during chill-block melt spinning on the properties of a hydride forming AB(5) material is described. The crystallographic grain size, texture and unit cell volume of the material changes with increasing cooling rate. A strong correlation between the hydrogen storage capacity and the unit cell volume is found.
