Mechanical characterization and animal experimentation of shape-memory aortic stents
With widespread acceptance of the biocompatibility of TiNi shape memory alloy over the last twenty years, shape memory endo-stents have evolved into a key area of applied researches, among which development of endovascular stents holds particular promises for recent researches. A dynamic test installation was designed to characterize stent hoop strength and stents with a hoop strength of the same magnitude level as that of canine blood vessels were implanted to treat abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Animal experimentation has established that the function of the mesh stents to exclude aortic aneurysms is associated with case details of the aneurysmal sac.
