Shape-memory effect in Ce-Y-TZP ceramics
By comparison of the shape memory effect (SME) and related properties among specimens with different contents of (8similar to12mol%)CeO2 and (0.25similar to0.75mol%)Y2O3 fabricated by different processings, it is concluded that the 8Ce-0.50Y-TZP sintered for 6 hours at 1773K possesses superior SME, i.e., a complete shape recovery rate and a recoverable strain of similar to1.2%. In addition, no microcrak was found after shape recovery in 8Ce-0.50Y-TZP.
