The influence of the macroscopic surface topography on spatially resolved residual stress measurements
The article discusses the influence of a technical surface on spatially resolved residual stress measurements. Measurements show strong variations of the residual stress which correlates with the surface topography. To describe the influence of a surface which is not perfectly smooth on a residual stress measurement, the concept of the local co-ordinate system is presented. The calculated and the measured peak angles 2theta show consistent results.
