A diffraction system based on X-ray area detector and its applications on pole figure measurement as well as corresponding calculation of orientation distribution functions are described. The advantages of the X-ray area detector diffraction system are the ability to collect several incomplete pole figures simultaneously, and to calculate the orientation distribution functions accurately and rapidly, which makes it suitable for the online texture measurement of deep drawing steel sheets.
