Analysis and modelling of a variant selection mechanism occurring by phase transformation of HSLA steel produced by Compact Strip Production
In this contribution, the ferrite texture inheritance of a microalloyed HSLA steel produced by Compact Strip Production (CSP) and particularly the variant selection occurring by phase transformation of the austenite are analysed. Among various assumptions of variant selections which have been modelled, a variant selection mechanism involving the minimising of elastic work in the elastically-anisotropic parent austenite allowed us to simulate the main features of the ferrite texture from the autenite texture. The pertinence of the simulated ferrite textures is linked to the calculation of the elastic work required per variant to grow in the parent austenite and a critical work threshold.
