Evaluation of the plastic strain distribution of pearlitic wires during torsion
The pearlitic wires are mainly applied in tire industry. During the torsion process of a drawn wire, the crystallographic textures evolve in the surface, intermediate and core areas of the wire. It was found that it exists a heterogeneous plastic deformation along the radius direction of the pearlitic wires during torsion, this can be related to the work hardening inside the drawn wires. A quantitative relationship between the plastic strain along the radius direction and texture was established on the basis of the experimental observations. It has been proven to be a useful means for the determination of the plastic strain distribution of drawn wires.
