Analysis of the hot workability, stress-strain and fracture behavior of 2014 PM aluminium matrix composite
The 2014 powder metallurgy aluminum matrix composite with 15% of SiC particulate reinforcement was exposed to the high temperature workability testing by means of hot torsion tests followed by room. temperature tensile and compressive testing. All the specimens were solution treated and stabilized at the test temperature for 24 hours before the mechanical testing. Hot torsion tests were performed in the range of 300-500degreesC at strain rates of 10(-3)-10 s(-1). The activation energy for high temperature deformation was estimated from the strain rate vs. flow stress curves.
