Recovery of magnesium from molten slag by bubbling argon through the melt at atmospheric pressure
Rates of evolution and yields of magnesium were measured for the reaction of molten MgO-Al2O3-CaO slags with ferroaluminium by bubbling of argon through the slag/metal melt at atmospheric pressure. The effects of flow rate of argon and alloy composition were determined. The purity of magnesium deposits obtained was determined by mass spectrometry.
