Fabrication and properties of TiC/Ti3SiC2 composites and FGMs
Titanium silicon carbide (Ti3SiC2) is a promising ceramic material that has only been extensively studied in recent years. It combines the merits of both metals and ceramics. In this paper, TiC/Ti3SiC2 ceramic composites and functionally graded materials were fabricated and characterized sintered at 1300degreesC by spark plasma sintering). Physical and mechanical properties of TiC/Ti3SiC2 composites with different content of Ti3SiC2 Were investigated, such as bulk density, Vickers hardness, and bending strength. All of these properties are important for the design of the functionally graded materials.
