Behavior of Ti coating in CBN/Ti/vitrified bond gradient materials
The Behavior of titanium (Ti) coating in CBN/titanium/vitrified bond gradient material was investigated. The experimental results were contrary to the references. The experimental results showed that the titanium began to oxidize at about 650degreesC, and formed to discontinuous coating of TiO2 on CBN abrasive surfaces. The existence of Ti-coating could not protect CBN abrasives from heat damage, instead, it reduced the bonding strength between CBN abrasives and vitrified bond.
