New process for high-toughness linepipe material of thin slab and direct rolling
Inserting the intermediate quench and low-temperature short-time reheat process into the hot rolling passes of Thin Slab and Direct Rolling (TSDR), the product is endowed with extremely fine and uniform microstructure, which makes it enable to produce high-toughness hot coils and plates with thickness of higher than around half inch. This new process is feasible by installing some quench facility adjacent to the rolling stands, since most TSDR plants are designed to be flexible in installing the additional process to the original process array from the equalization furnace to the down coiler. In the report, the optimum processing parameters will be discussed in accordance with several microalloy designs. Also, the mechanism of the fine and uniform microstructure is explained briefly.
