On the strength of Ni3Al based compounds
The dip test technique is used for the first time to separate the thermal and athermal components of the stress in the strength anomaly domain of Ni3Al. Both components are observed to increase along the stress-strain curve and with temperature, at given strain and keeping a constant ratio. These observations are discussed in terms of previous results about activation volumes and dislocation densities in this compound.
