Magneto-sensitive dielectric permeability in nano-composite ferromagnetic oxide films prepared by RF-sputtering
A new type of ferroelectric-ferromagnetic material that shows the electromagnetic-effect, i.e. (EM)(H)-effect, above room temperature was realized in nano-composite ferromagnetic oxide films with the ternary Bi2O3-Fe2O3-PbTiO3 System prepared by reactive rf-sputtering. The change of the complex dielectric permeability constant with external magnetic field H, Deltaepsilon(r)(H)=.Deltaepsilon(r)'(H) - jDeltaepsilon(r)''(H) was measured by lock-in technique applying an ac-electric field (E) over tilde(omega) and/or ac magnetic field (h) over tilde(omega), where f = 1Hz to 100Hz and H, (E) over tilde(omega) and (h) over tilde(omega) were applied along the film thickness. It is found that this (EM)H-effect is closely correlated with magnetization property. The electric polarization induced by H, DeltaP(H), is expressed by a simple model based on magnetization rotation expressed as [GRAPHICS] where \Deltaepsilon'(H)\(max) is the maximum value of Deltaepsilon'(H), M(H) is the magnetization at H, M-s is the saturation magnetization and alpha is a constant.
