Wear and corrosion behaviour of A16061-TiO2 composites
The present investigation deals with preparation of Al 6061-TiO2 composites by liquid metallurgy route, which is the most popular technique. Metallographic study, hardness, friction, wear and corrosion tests have been conducted on the cast Al 6061-TiO2. The corroding medium used is 3.5%Nacl. An improvement in hardness and wear resistance, lowering of coefficient of friction of the cast composites was observed with increased content of TiO2 in the composites. However, deterioration of corrosion resistance of the cast composites has been observed for the cast composites when compared with the matrix alloy.
