Shear-induced particle migration in suspension in a capillary pressurized driven circular tube flow
The net migration of particles undergoing capillary pressurized driven flow of suspensions containing 30% or 40% volume solids of dense viscous nickel spherical particles was investigated. Scanning electron microscope (SEM JEOL-5600) was used to capture images of the feedstock with specially designed capillary split dies. An image analyzer software (Image ProPlus) was used to obtain particle concentration at intermediate radii annulus. The effect of particle migration phenomenon to pressurized shear-induced flow to powder injection molding was discussed.
