Modelling interface-controlled strength of short-fibre and particulate reinforced composites
The strength of short-fibre reinforced composites is analysed by a shear-lag parametric study, where fibres are subjected to an asymmetric internal stress profile and their interfaces are acted by variable shear stresses. The parametric model highlights the interface role on the strength of short-fibre and particulate composites, and predicts each reinforcement type capability to strengthen the composite when their contributions are interface-controlled.
