Application of Emulsion Liquid Membrane Technology to the Extraction of Silver
The extraction of silver by water/oil/water (W/O/W) emulsion liquid membranes (LEMs) using di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) as a carrier was carried out experimentally under various operating conditions in a batch system; also parametric effects were considered. More than 99% extraction of silver was achieved under specific conditions. The counter-transport of silver and hydrogen ions were facilitated by the carrier, and the use of hydrochloric acid as an internal reagent accelerated silver transport.
