A com. polyalphaolefin base oil was thickened for 60, 120 or 180 min at its m.p. with a mixt. of Li 12-hydroxystearate and Li azelate (mole ratio 1:0.5, 18% by mass) to lubricating greases studied then for structural, physicochem. and tribol. properties as well as for biodegradability. The increase in processing time resulted in increasing dropping point and decreasing penetration and oxidative stability of the greases. The grease produced 180 min long allowed for decreasing wear of fricting surfaces but its biodegradability was quite low (47.7%).
