Use of ammonium nitrate(V) as component of high-energy materials in Poland
Use of phase-stabilized NH4NO3 in perspective high-energy materials (secondary explosives, pyrotechnical mixts.) was comprehensively assessed. Effects of addn. of trinitrotoluene, hexogen and NH4ClO4 as well as binders, especially azide group-contg. polymers, were discussed. Results of differential thermal anal. of mixts. of NH4NO3 with urea, Al powder, Fe2O3, NaCl or NH4 Cl showed a decrease in the thermal sensitivity of NH4NO3 after addn. of urea. The prodn. of emulsion explosives contg. ca. 60% of NH4NO3 is a particular way to avoid effects of the NH4NO3 phase transition.
